08 12-15 2012 Hospital Time

So we have had a little excitement in our family.  So Andrew had a little spot under his diaper.  It started a small and we were watching.  It was getting a little bigger and he had a fever.  My dad suggested that we take him into urgent care so off we went.  It was an infected abscess.  They drained it (Dennis held him while I cried) and gave him some antibiotics.  His fever broke and he was one happy little baby.  We had to take him back in the next day for them to check him and we were for sure he was getting better.  But the white blood count doubled.  The doctor sent him to the hospital to get different antibiotics through and IV.  What an emotional day.  I was grateful for the doctor (not Andrew's pediatrician) being so understanding and caring as he tried to calm my nerves.  We were the only child in the hospital so pediatrics was closed.  We were on the floor with everyone else with one ped's nurse.  I was grateful when the next day we were moved to peds because the hospital needed our room.  Talk about quiet.  There ended up being 2 of us on 1 floor.  Andrew was a trooper.  He did not act sick at all.  He was a happy boy.  3 days later we were finally released.  I am grateful for modern day medication and wonderful people who are willing to take care of my baby.  It did end up being MRSA which only responds to specific antibiotics.

There were wonderful ladys who spend time making little stuffed dolls for the ped's patients.  We ended up with 3 of them.
 Room with a view.
